How It Works

About the IN and OUT Labels

This is an indoor/outdoor thermometer, so the display labels the remote sensor reading "OUT" and its own built-in reading "IN". That's just the labelling. It doesn't change how the thermometer works.

Using the Remote Sensor in a Fridge

Fridges, especially 3-way caravan fridges, are full of moisture and condensation, and the remote sensor isn't built for that. If you do put it in a fridge, seal it in a small clip-seal bag first. Seal the bag somewhere dry, not in a humid van, so you're not trapping moisture in with it. The sensor will last a lot longer, and the temperature still reads normally. It just reacts a little slower to changes.

Where should I put the sensor outside?
Somewhere shaded and out of the rain, like under the awning or on the shady side of the van. A sensor sitting in direct sun will read well above the real air temperature.

Can I use it to check my caravan fridge?
You can, but seal the sensor in a clip-seal bag first. Fridges are full of condensation, and moisture will shorten its life.

Why does it read differently to my other thermometer?
Every thermometer has a tolerance, so two can read a little apart and both be working fine. Place them side by side and give them time to settle before you compare.
